About us

Kerala Agricultural University (https://kau.in/) is the primary and principal instrumentality of the Kerala state in providing human resources, and skills and technology, required for the sustainable development of agriculture, defined broadly encompassing all production activities including agriculture and forestry through conducting, interfacing and integrating education, research and extension in these spheres of economic endeavor. The College of Agriculture, Vellayani was established in May 1955 and continues as the Centre of Undergraduate and Post Graduate education. With the inclusion of this institution in the Agricultural University, the agricultural education and research in the state underwent tremendous changes and development.

Recognizing the relevance of biotechnology in both plant and animal sectors, BioZion- The Biotech Capstone-Science Society Interface is trying to open up an interdisciplinary knowledge sharing platform under the guidance of Department of Agricultural Extension Education and Department of Molecular Biology And Biotechnology with the collaborative support of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram (https://www.sctimst.ac.in/).

The conclave emphasis on developing an ecosystem for excellence and research in a variety of biotechnology fields as it is a multifaceted science that draws on many other sciences such as agriculture, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, enzymology, food science, and others along with societal concerns and impacts.
